snow! neige! yuki!

4-5 inches in Richmond/Surrey and counting, but only 2-3 inches where I live in Vancouver... I hope it keeps snowing so that school doesn't reopen quite so soon (next Monday: blech!).

It took me over an hour to drive home from White Rock (south of Surrey, but just as far from my home) in that stupid crap car, but I am home... cats were sure hungry!

let it snow let it snow let it snow let it snow let it snow let it snow let it snow

if she says go home, go home!

Today was an uneventful day, for the most part. Class was same-o, I had a parent interview at 3:15, and I puttered around as I planned for tomorrow. Other than the photocopier being broken (again), everying was pretty hum drum.

Around 4:30 Karina (teaches gr 6/7) wanted to know if I wanted to go grab some grub together, so we went to Thai Away something-or-other near Cambie and 17th. After a delicious and cheap dinner (green curry, a spring roll, salad and soup) we crossed Cambie to grab a nutella and banana crepe with vanilla ice-cream on the side. Yuh-mee!

Upon leaving, I offered to give Karina a lift back downtown, and she said "oh no, you probably just want to go home" but as it really wasn't that far, I convinced her. As we went over the Cambie street bridge, Karina explained that she wanted to be let off near the Urban Fare, so I followed the sign in the right-hand lane to get to Pacific Blvd - West. Lo and behold, the exit turned out to be in the left lane, despite the sing! So I made a quick right-hand turn..... into a one way street!

Now, my mistake was fairly obvious - aside from the fact that there were only white lines on the road (no yellow centre lane), there was the other clue: headlights coming my way! I quickly made for another right turn, but not before a lovely large SUV drove nose to nose with my car, and then blared on his horn at me...... perhaps he thought I had not noticed traffic, headlights, and his large bumper under my nose? Certainly the horn was the only possible way to alert me to my error!!!

Anyhow, we made it to Urban Fare, where I dropped a laughing Karina off, and made a U-turn to go back home.... right in front of a grinning, finger-wagging, head-shaking policeman!

A Final Visit from Saint Nicholas [rec.humor.funny]

Though I don't celebrate Christmas, I must say that this poor Santa has put it in a nutshell!

5. What was your first impression?
6. Do you still think that way about me now?
7. What do you think my weakness is?
8. Do you think I'll get married?
9. What makes me happy?
10. What makes me sad?
11. What reminds you of me?
12. If you could give me anything what would it be?
13. How well do you know me?
14. When's the last time you saw me?
15. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
16. Do you think I could kill someone?
17. Describe me in one word.
18. Do you think our friendship is getting stronger/weaker/or staying the same?
19. Do you feel that you could talk to me about anything and I would listen?
20. Are you going to put this on your livejournal and see what I say about you?

Trouble in paradise

Well... the menagerie is getting out of hand...

The cage I bought is really neat, the plastic tub that slides underneath is large, though not quite deep enough to keep the shavings in it! And the wire floor is a little snug: I had to loosen the frame so that it would slide in all the way.

Anyhow, I put the tub with woodchips in, took the wire floor out again, and showed the critters their new home.....

Problem: the pigs are scared of the baby bunny, and before I knew it they were all chasing eachother around the tub, squeeling and jumping, woodchips flying all over the place! I scooped the bunny out onto my shoulder, and let the pigs calm down (squeeeek! squeeek! squeeek! squick... squick... tweet-tweet... chirp-chirp). Then, with bunny still on my shoulder, I put the wire floor back in...

... and bunny now lives upstairs!! Serves them right if they get pooped on!

Hopefully they'll get used to eachother's scent, and I'll be able to put them all as roomies before too long. If not, well I guess we are all screwed!

How did Noah manage it???
